This is my honest feedback regarding a recent purchase at your store.
For some background, I have been living in Vancouver since 1993. After settling here and beginning to celebrate important family milestones, Michele’s Cake Shop has always been at the top of our list. I have been happy to pay a premium for your cakes because of the quality and consistency of your products.
Unfortunately, the chestnut cake I purchased on December 23, 2025, for my mother’s 88th birthday was, to put it modestly, very disappointing.
Our family ordered two chestnut cakes—one from Michele’s and one from Saint Germain. I am not sure why the quality of your cake declined so significantly this time.
There were two main issues:
1. The silky-smooth texture that I have come to expect from your cake was gone. Instead, the texture was noticeably rough. I wonder whether this was due to a change in the type of cake flour used.
2. The chestnut filling was extremely disappointing. I was honestly speechless. Please see the attached photo and judge for yourself.
To be fair, I do not expect your cake to be on the same level as Gary’s Patisserie, but this particular cake was unfortunately below average.
I am not expecting any compensation, nor am I trying to make a scene. I am simply hoping that you will once again make your products with the care and heart that originally made Michele’s Cake Shop so special to our family and all of your long term customers in Vancouver.
